Uncharted Experiences
This was a 10 Day trip of 14 people. It is uncharted because most of the members had not travelled to the African Continent. It was an intense spiritual, psycho-socio trip.
Cultural/Historical
We spent the first three days learning Rwanda’ culture, history, being grounded into the new experiences in front of us. There is so much to see, touch, smell, and feel beyond what people hear or read in books and news outlets.
Internalising
The experiences we behold mean nothing if there is no space to internalise them. After taking in the culture, history and sights, we then spent time talking with Rwandans, and hearing their perspectives and learning from them how they hold this in their hearts. This portion is climaxed with a seminar or workshop in which we get to put our faiths, stories, experiences and perspectives to the test around tables in honest and authentic conversations with Rwandans. This is essential in addressing the cognitive dissonance that comes up for many as they struggle with making sense of life’s meaning and purpose.
Hands and Feet
The trip was summed up by being agents of hope, courage, belief and transformation as we renovate a home for a family. This is the “Incarnational Ministry”.
Everyone gets to sit with, play with, and learn from the simplicity and redemptive stories of the children and women of one of our ministries; Jabana Initiative.
